The Winter Heat championship at Charlotte Motor Speedway started on the first weekend of December on the tight & tricky 1/5 mile oval. Although showing promising speed from the second I hit the racetrack, my championship campaign got off to a slow start, whilst restarting on the front row of the opening feature race, a hit from behind sent me backwards into the wall. My crew made the necessary repairs to get me back on track and I managed to salvage a 3rd place finish. The following 2 rounds were postponed due to rain, which gave me a chance to repair the damage to the rear of the #23 Legend car.
The series returned to action on the first weekend of the new year at the newly rebuilt road course inside Charlotte Motor Speedway. It was from that point on we began our run of dominance, despite rain, on track penalties and inverts, winning 5 feature races in a row, claiming 4 pole positions, a new track record and the US Legends Winter Heat Championship along the way.
The success was much welcomed after last years string of second place finishes, it really burned the desire in me to go to work on the car and myself and try to find any improvement possible. There’s no better feeling then seeing that hard work pay off. It wouldn’t have been possible without the help of my good mate Tyler Trosper, Joe Ryan Osborne, GMS Racing, TJ Clark and everyone that helped put a hand on the car or supported me throughout the series
